DPD February Safety Update
**Crime Alert** Towards the end of January and beginning of February, we have identified a crime trend regarding thefts from businesses and apartment leasing offices. The offenses have occurred in Central Division (Uptown, East Dallas, Farmers Market).
The suspects are entering apartment leasing offices AND businesses looking for property left unattended. The tactic being used is to ask a question or request information that will take the attention of the victim away from the items of interest for the suspects. Once the victim has been distracted, one of the suspects is reaching over or simply picking up items of value and fleeing the location.
The suspects are parking their vehicles close to the entrance and facing a direction that is easy for them to escape.
Two (2) black males, approximately 18-25 years of age
A recent victim stated that one of the suspects had a very large lower lip.
During one of the offenses, the victim stated that there were three (3) suspects who entered together prior to taking property
4-Door Gold/Yellow/Tan Buick or Cadillac car
Please continue to use extra vigilance not only while at home or during personal time, but also during your time at your place of employment. It is suggested that you do not leave any items of value in unsecured places.
Should you encounter suspicious person(s) at anytime, please call 911 immediately
and provide a description of the individual(s) in order for Officers to respond and determine if there are any actions that need to be taken.
