A ballpark opening date has been narrowed down for Mixt, the fast-casual restaurant opening its first location in Texas in Uptown Dallas. According to a release, this California-based concept known for salads, grain bowls, and seasonal plates will open at 2355 Olive St. — the same building as the Starbucks Reserve and Doc B’s — in May.
Mixt was founded in San Francisco in 2006 by Leslie and David Silverglide and has more than a dozen locations across California, making this not only the first location in Texas, but also the first outside of California. Yay us.
Leslie Silverglide says in a statement that Mixt is friendly to all of the big eating trends. “No matter your preference—keto or paleo, to vegan or omnivore—if you want to eat better, MIXT will be a great destination for you,” she says.
Mixt has signature creations but also offers the option to create your own, with more than 70 ingredients. “We’re excited to showcase Mixt’s unique ingredients in Dallas, such as our avocado Goddess dressing, and push the boundaries of what healthy food is supposed to taste like,” says Culinary Director Jeffrey Amber.
Signatures include seasonal salads like the Wrangler with Romaine, grilled chicken, applewood smoked bacon, grilled asparagus, rainbow carrots, cotija cheese, jicama, black beans, scallions, barbecue spiced croutons and creamy sriracha ranch dressing.
The Bachelor has “mixt” greens, their cutesy name for mixed greens, plus arugula, flat iron steak, blue cheese, herb roasted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, savory herbs, balsamic vinaigrette, and caramelized onions and breadcrumbs; and the vegetarian Beetnik with mixt greens, arugula, roasted golden beets, avocado, goat cheese, toasted walnuts, dried cranberries, shaved fennel, savory herbs, and balsamic vinaigrette.
There are design-your-own bowls with greens or grains; and “plates,” which sound exactly like a regular meal, with a grilled protein, sauce, and two “plant-based” sides — which used to be called just veggie sides before life got so complicated — such as parmesan mashed cauliflower and grilled broccoli with chili flakes. They also have beer, wine, and kombucha on tap.
There’s a kids menu with grilled chicken, roasted butternut squash, and grilled broccoli, plus seasonal lemonades.
They’ll be open for lunch and dinner daily from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.
