“AT MY CORE, I’M A DREAMER.”
“MY HEART BELONGS ON DAOU MOUNTAIN.”
RUTH WOULD’VE LOVED THESE BROTHERS.

Like Ruth herself, brothers Georges and Daniel Daou were driven entrepreneurs. A true American success story, they went from a humble beginning in Lebanon to the top of the networking technology industry in California before turning to their winemaking dream. A parallel to Ruth’s story, with no experience the brothers bought the legendary Hoffman Mountain Ranch. The property was on the perfect mountain in Paso Robles, where the elevation and warmer environment yields a ready-to-drink, fruit-forward, richer, fuller wine that some say rivals the best of Bordeaux.

DAOU’s mission is to produce first-growth cabernet from the terroir of this incredible mountain. And this dinner offers a rare opportunity to learn more about their philosophy and practices, but also to experience the quality of their wines: 2015 Chemin de Fleurs, 2015 Chardonnay, 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2013 Cabernet Reserve and Pessimist.

“We have challenged ourselves to produce first-growth Cabernet Sauvignon that will rival the greatest. There is no question that we have the terroir. Success will come through reverence for this land—the idea that we are not ‘making’ something from it, but rather mirroring all that is already there.”

– Daniel J. Daou, proprietor / winemaker
