THE WORLD AND NATURE
McKinney Avenue Contemporary
3120 McKinney Ave.

Friday, May 9, 6:00PM through Friday, May 9, 8:00PM
The MAC brings you a brand new exhibit that explores nature and the world around us through two brilliant minds. Taylor Hicks and Billy Hassel are both Texas natives who want to showcase the natural beauty of the world and how we are losing some of our longest living species due to global warming and other aspects of nature’s destruction. Mr. Hick’s exhibit, “Global Warning:still/Life,” incorporates hundreds of frogs, cast in translucent rubber and infused with dyes and pigments that glow in the dark or under ultraviolet light, giving new life to species that are disappearing from the Earth. Mr. Hassell’s work seeks to describe his vision of the natural world, through color and exaggerated forms that results in beautifully vibrant works of art. A reception with the artists is set for Friday, May 9th, 2008 from 6-8pm but the exhibit will run through June 21st, 2008.
