First United Methodist Church has stood in the heart of downtown Dallas for 160 years. In that time the neighborhood, the city, and the world have changed around us. Still, our calling remains unchanged: to worship God, to be disciples of Christ, and to serve others. Within the walls of our historic 1926 Gothic cathedral are people who are passionate about following the example of Jesus. This passion is reflected in the vibrant missions and ministries that serve our members and embrace the needs of our Community. Meet the people of UrbanLife. UrbanLife is a community of young urban professionals who want their faith to connect to the rest of their lives. Some of us are single, others of us are dating, some of us are "coupled," some engaged and some married. Some of us live in uptown, others in downtown, some in Lakewood, and then we have our commuters! With more than 5,000 people living in downtown and uptown, and a majority of those being in their 20s and 30s, UrbanLife is First Church's way of being a good downtown neighbor to this growing demographic. Ultimately, First Church is about people: the people we serve, the people we are, the people we strive to be. It is a privilege to be part of this congregation and I invite you to get to know us.
